Christopher Bell earned his first victory of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season by dominating the season’s second race, the Rinnai 250, at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell dominated the second race of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, the Rinnai 250, at Atlanta Motor Speedway en route to securing his first victory of the season and the ninth victory of his Xfinity Series career.

Bell, who started the 163-lap race around the four-turn, 1.54-mile (2.478-kilometer) high-banked Atlanta Motor Speedway oval in Hampton, Georgia in third place, won it by just 0.191 seconds in his #20 Toyota over Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer, who started the race from the pole position and finished it in second in his #00 Ford.

JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver of the race. He finished in third place in his #7 Chevrolet. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brandon Jones and Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick rounded out the top five by finishing in fourth and fifth in their #19 Toyota and #2 Chevrolet, respectively.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Jeffrey Earnhardt, JR Motorsports’ Ryan Preece, Kaulig Racing’s Justin Haley, JR Motorsports’ Noah Gragson and Team Penske’s Austin Cindric rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #18 Toyota, #8 Chevrolet, #11 Chevrolet, #9 Chevrolet and #22 Ford, respectively.

The race featured a total of 11 lead changes among five drivers. Aside of Bell, who led more laps than anybody else in the field with 142 laps led, four drivers led at least one lap of the race. Those drivers were Custer, Jones, Reddick and Gragson. Bell won both stages one and two.

The race featured only three caution flag periods for 16 laps. Of these three caution flag periods, two took place as a result of the usual endings of stages one and two. The lone incident-related caution flag period of the race took place with just seven laps remaining when Nemechek spun in turn two.

This caution flag period resulted in the race’s final restart with three laps to go and was the reason why Bell’s margin of victory over Custer was so small despite the fact that he dominated the race. Of the 37 drivers who started the race, 31 finished it, and of the 31 drivers who finished it, 14 finished it on the lead lap.
