Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott delivered Hendrick Motorsports their first victory of the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season by winning the season’s 10th race, the GEICO 500, at Talladega Superspeedway.
Elliott’s victory in the 188-lap race around the four-turn, 2.66-mile (4.281-kilometer) high-banked Talladega Superspeedway oval in Lincoln, Alabama made Hendrick Motorsports just the third team to win a race so far this season.
Joe Gibbs Racing have already won six races so far this season and Team Penske have already won three. In fact, the 10th race of a season is the latest that it has taken for a third different team to win a race in Cup Series history.

Elliott’s victory was the first victory by a Hendrick Motorsports driver since he won last season’s October race at Kansas Speedway in the round of 12 of the playoffs. He has now earned each of the team’s last four victories going back to when he earned his first career Cup Series victory in the race at Watkins Glen International in August of 2018.
Additionally, his victory was also the first victory by a Chevrolet driver so far this season, and it was the first victory by a Chevrolet driver since he won that race at Kansas Speedway. He has now also been accountable for earning the last four victories that were earned by Chevrolet drivers.
