NASCAR Cup Series: Kevin Harvick takes pole for 2019 Digital Ally 400

Kevin Harvick took his third pole position of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season for the season’s 12th race, the Digital Ally 400, at Kansas Speedway.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick took the pole position for the 12th race on the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, the Digital Ally 400, at Kansas Speedway.

This pole position is Harvick’s third pole position of the 2019 season, and it made him the first driver to take three pole positions so far this season as he continues to pursue his first victory and even his first top three finish of the year.

Harvick took the pole position for this 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Kansas Speedway oval in Kansas City, Kansas by recording a top lap time of 30.131 seconds (179.217 miles per hour) in the single-car qualifying session for the race in his #4 Ford.

Harvick led a top four sweep by Ford drivers and by Stewart-Haas Racing drivers in this qualifying session, as his three teammates also qualified in the top four. Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer and Daniel Suarez qualified in second, third and fourth place in their #10 Ford, #14 Ford and #41 Ford, respectively.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott was the highest qualifying Chevrolet driver for the race. He qualified in fifth place in his #9 Chevrolet. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. was the highest qualifying Toyota driver for the race. He qualified in sixth in his #19 Toyota.

Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson, Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski and Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman rounded out the top 10 by qualifying in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #24 Chevrolet, #42 Chevrolet, #2 Ford and #88 Chevrolet, respectively.
