Formula E: Oliver Rowland takes pole for 2019 Monaco ePrix

Oliver Rowland took his third pole position for the 2018-2019 Formula E season for the season’s ninth race, the Monaco ePrix, at Circuit de Monaco.

Nissan e.dams’ Oliver Rowland took his third pole position of the 13-race 2018-2019 Formula E season for the season’s ninth race, the Monaco ePrix, at Circuit de Monaco. This pole position is his second consecutive pole position and his third pole position in the last four races.

Rowland took the pole position for this 45-minute race around the 12-turn, 1.096-mile (1.765-kilometer) Circuit de Monaco temporary street circuit in Monte Carlo, Monaco by recording a top lap time of 50.021 seconds (78.879 miles per hour) in his #22 Spark-Nissan in the Super Pole qualifying session.

DS Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne qualified in second place in his #25 Spark-DS Automobiles, and his top lap time in the Super Pole qualifying session was only 0.021 seconds (0.033 miles per hour) slower than that of Rowland at 50.042 seconds (78.846 miles per hour).

Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Mitch Evans and Mahindra Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein qualified in third and fourth place in their #20 Spark-Jaguar and #94 Spark-Mahindra, respectively.

Their top lap times in the Super Pole qualifying session were 50.112 seconds (78.736 miles per hour) and 50.128 seconds (78.711 miles per hour), which were just 0.091 seconds (0.143 miles per hour) and 0.107 seconds (0.168 miles per hour) slower than that of Rowland, respectively.

Venturi’s Felipe Massa and Nissan e.dams’ Sebastien Buemi were the slowest two of the six drivers who advanced to the Super Pole qualifying session. They qualified in fifth and sixth place in their #19 Spark-Venturi and #23 Spark-Nissan, respectively.

Their top lap times in the Super Pole qualifying session were 50.218 seconds (78.569 miles per hour) and 50.234 seconds (78.544 miles per hour), which were just 0.197 seconds (0.310 miles per hour) and 0.213 seconds (0.335 miles per hour) slower than that of Rowland, respectively.

BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Alexander Sims, Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Alex Lynn, BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Antonio Felix da Costa and Geox Dragon Racing’s Jose Maria Lopez rounded out the top 10 in qualifying for this race by qualifying in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #27 Spark-BMW, #3 Spark-Jaguar, #28 Spark-BMW and #7 Spark-Penske, respectively.

All 22 of the drivers who qualified for this race recorded top lap times in the qualifying session that were separated by less than one second.
