NASCAR Cup Series: 11 drivers sent to the rear for 2019 Digital Ally 400

A total of 11 drivers are set to be sent to the rear of the field for the start of this evening’s NASCAR Cup Series race, the Digital Ally 400, at Kansas Speedway.

A total of 11 cars, including five of the eight that were set to start this evening’s NASCAR Cup Series race, the Digital Ally 400, at Kansas Speedway in the top eight, failed pre-race inspection and are set to be sent to the back of the field for the start of this race.

Stewart-Haas Racing swept the top four positions on the starting grid for this 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Kansas Speedway oval in Kansas City, Kansas, but only two of them are set to start there after these penalties.

Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Aric Almirola and Daniel Suarez qualified for this race in second and fourth place in their #10 Ford and #41 Ford, respectively, but they both failed pre-race inspection. Kevin Harvick is still set to start the race on the pole position in his #4 Ford, but he is set to start alongside Clint Bowyer in second in his #14 Ford as opposed to Almirola.

Also failing pre-race inspection among the drivers who originally qualified for the race in the top eight were Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson. They originally qualified in fifth, sixth and eighth place in their #9 Chevrolet, #19 Toyota and #42 Chevrolet, respectively.

Germain Racing’s Ty Dillon, Team Penske’s Joey Logano, Front Row Motorsports’ Michael McDowell, StarCom Racing’s Landon Cassill and MBM Motorsports teammates Joey Gase and Timmy Hill also failed pre-race inspection. They originally qualified for the race in 15th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, 38th and 39th place in their #13 Chevrolet, #22 Ford, #34 Ford, #00 Chevrolet, #46 Toyota and #66 Toyota, respectively.

Logano, Truex Jr., Elliott, Almirola, Suarez, Larson, Dillon, McDowell, Cassill, Gase and Hill are now set to start this race lined up by owner points in 30th, 31st, 32nd, 33rd, 34th, 35th, 36th, 37th, 38th, 39th and 40th place, respectively.
