Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings after 2019 Spanish Grand Prix
By Asher Fair
Lewis Hamilton earned his third victory of the 2019 Formula 1 season in the season’s fifth race, the Spanish Grand Prix, at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. How did this race affect the Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings?
Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport’s Lewis Hamilton became the first driver to win three races in the 21-race Formula 1 season by dominating the season’s fifth race, the Spanish Grand Prix, at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Hamilton also became the first driver to win two races this season just two races ago by dominating the season’s third race, the Chinese Grand Prix, at Shanghai International Circuit. He led every single lap in this race, just as he did in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Hamilton’s victory in the 66-lap race around the 16-turn, 2.892-mile (4.654-kilometer) Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya road course in Montmelo, Catalonia, Spain is his fifth victory in the last seven races going back to last season. He finished in second place in the two of those seven races that he did not win.
Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas, who is the only other driver who has won any races so far this season with two victories, finished the Spanish Grand Prix in second place. He, like his teammate, has only finished in the top two this season.
