Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson took the checkered flag in the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway to earn the victory and the $1 million prize that came with it.
Larson, who started the 88-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Charlotte Motor Speedway oval in Concord, North Carolina in 18th place in his #42 Chevrolet after locking himself into the field by winning the third and final stage of the Monster Energy Open at the track earlier this evening, won it by 0.322 seconds over Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick in second in his #4 Ford.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch was the highest finishing Toyota driver of the race. He finished in third place in his #18 Toyota. Team Penske’s Joey Logano and Richard Petty Motorsports’ Darrell Wallace Jr. rounded out the top five by finishing in fourth and fifth in their #22 Ford and #43 Chevrolet, respectively.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola, Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon, Hendrick Motorsports teammates Alex Bowman and William Byron and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #10 Ford, #3 Chevrolet, #88 Chevrolet, #24 Chevrolet and #19 Toyota, respectively.
The race featured a total of nine lead changes among seven drivers. Aside of Larson, who led 13 laps of the race, six drivers led at least one lap of the race. These drivers were Harvick, Busch, Logano, Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski, Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer, who started from the pole position, and Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott. Harvick led more laps than anybody else in the field with 33 laps led. Busch won stage one, Harvick won stage two and Logano won stage three.
The race also featured a total of eight caution flag periods, of which three took place as a result of the endings of stages one, two and three and the other five took place as a result of on-track incidents. Of the 19 drivers who started the race, 17 finished it, and of the 17 drivers who finished the race, 16 finished on the lead lap.
Stage one went into overtime, which is why the race was extended to 88 laps as opposed to the scheduled 85 laps. The race technically lasted longer than 88 laps, but the laps that were run under caution did not count, as the race was red flagged for these laps despite the fact that the cars continued to run.
