William Byron took the pole position for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season’s 14th race, the Pocono 400, at Pocono Raceway.

Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron took the pole position for the 14th race on the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, the Pocono 400, at Pocono Raceway. This pole position is his third pole position of the season and his second consecutive pole position.

This pole position is also Chevrolet’s eighth pole position of the season despite the fact that the bowtie manufacturer has only earned one victory through the season’s first 13 races.

Aside of Byron, the only driver who has taken three pole positions so far this season is Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick. Only two other drivers, Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott and Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon, have taken two pole positions so far in 2019.

Byron took the pole position for tomorrow afternoon’s 160-lap race around the three-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Pocono Raceway triangle in Long Pond, Pennsylvania by recording a top lap time of 51.875 seconds (173.494 miles per hour) in the single-car qualifying session for this race in his #24 Chevrolet.

As a result, if Byron does not win the Pocono 400, a total of 31 races will have been contested since a polesitter was last victorious, which would be a new all-time record.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch was the highest qualifying Toyota driver for the race. He is set to start on the front row alongside Byron in second place in his #18 Toyota.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer was the highest qualifying Ford driver for the race. He is set to start in third place in his #14 Ford alongside Joe Gibbs Racing’s Erik Jones, who is set to start in fourth in his #20 Toyota.

Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin are set to share the third row on the starting grid in fifth and sixth place in their #2 Ford and #11 Toyota, respectively.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson, Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson, Stewart-Haas Racing’s Daniel Suarez and Dillon are set to round out the top 10 on the starting grid.

Larson and Johnson are set to share the fourth row in seventh and eighth place in their #42 Chevrolet and #48 Chevrolet, respectively, while Suarez and Dillon are set to share the fifth row in ninth and 10th in their #41 Ford and #3 Chevrolet, respectively.
