NASCAR Xfinity Series: Cole Custer wins 2019 Pocono Green 250

Cole Custer earned his third victory of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season by winning the season’s 12th race, the Pocono Green 250, at Pocono Raceway.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer passed Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick in the final turn of the final lap of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season’s 12th race, the Pocono Green 250, at Pocono Raceway en route to earning his third victory of the season.

Custer, who started this 103-lap race, which was scheduled to be a 100-lap race but went into overtime due to a late caution flag period, around the three-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Pocono Raceway triangle in Long Pond, Pennsylvania from the pole position, won it by just 0.226 seconds in his #00 Ford over Reddick in second place in his #2 Chevrolet.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe finished the race in third place in his #98 Ford, giving the team two of the top three finishing positions. JR Motorsports’ Ryan Preece finished in fourth in his #8 Chevrolet. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell was the highest finishing Toyota driver of the race. He finished in fifth in his #20 Toyota.

JR Motorsports’ Noah Gragson, Team Penske’s Austin Cindric, JR Motorsports’ Michael Annett and Kaulig Racing teammates Justin Haley and Austin Dillon rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #9 Chevrolet, #22 Ford, #1 Chevrolet, #11 Chevrolet and #10 Chevrolet, respectively.

This race featured a total of 10 lead changes among six drivers. Aside of Custer, who led more laps than anybody else in the field with 59 laps led, five drivers led at least one lap of the race. These five drivers were Reddick, Bell, Cindric, JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier and GMS Racing’s John Hunter Nemechek. Custer won stage one and Allgaier won stage two.

This race also featured a total of seven caution flag periods, of which five took place as a result of on-track incidents and two took place as a result of the usual endings of stages one and two. Of the 38 drivers who started the race, 28 finished it, and of the 28 drivers who finished it, 15 finished on the lead lap.
