NASCAR Cup Series: 2019 Coke Zero Sugar 400 starting lineup
By Asher Fair
Joey Logano is set to start from the pole position after qualifying for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 was rained out. Here is the full starting lineup for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season’s 18th race.
Team Penske’s Joey Logano is set to start from the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season’s 18th race, the Coke Zero Sugar 400, at Daytona International Speedway from the pole position in his #22 Ford due to owner points.
Qualifying for this 160-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Daytona International Speedway oval in Daytona Beach, Florida was rained out after it was initially scheduled to take place this evening at 5:00 p.m. ET.
This pole position is Logano’s third pole position of the season, tying him atop the pole positions list with Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick, Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron and Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon.

Set to start alongside Logano is Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch in second place in his #18 Toyota. Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski and Harvick are set to start in third and fourth in their #2 Ford and #4 Ford, respectively.
Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Martin Truex Jr. and Denny Hamlin are set to start this race in fifth and sixth place in their #19 Toyota and #11 Toyota, respectively.
The highest starting Chevrolet drivers for this race are set to start from seventh through ninth place. Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott is set to start in seventh in his #9 Chevrolet while Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kurt Busch is set to start in eighth in his #1 Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman is set to start in ninth in his #88 Chevrolet. Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney is set to round out the top 10 by starting in 10th in his #12 Ford.
For the first time since Elliott won the race at Talladega Superspeedway in late April, the 2019 winners list saw an addition following last Sunday’s race at Chicagoland Speedway, as Bowman earned what was not only his first victory of the season but what was the first victory of his Cup Series career as well.
As a result, seven drivers representing three different teams are set to enter the Coke Zero Sugar 400 having won at least one race so far this season. Five of these seven drivers, of whom all five drive for Joe Gibbs Racing or Team Penske, have combined to win 15 of the 17 races that have been contested so far this year. In fact, these five race winners have all won multiple races in 2019.
A total of nine drivers representing five different teams are set to enter this Saturday night’s race having taken at least one pole position so far this season.
Race polesitters have only won one race going back to last July’s race at Kentucky Speedway, which was won by polesitter Martin Truex Jr. of Furniture Row Racing. Logano won the race at Michigan International Speedway after starting from the pole position last month to end an all-time record 31-race pole-to-win drought.
