By Asher Fair
Just two teams are still mathematically eligible to win the 2018-2019 Formula E championship heading into the season finale at Brooklyn Street Circuit.
DS Techeetah and Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler entered the 2017-2018 Formula E season finale, New York City ePrix Race 2, at Brooklyn Street Circuit with a chance to win the team championship.

Four teams entered New York City ePrix Race 1 at the 14-turn, 1.475-mile (2.374-kilometer) Brooklyn Street Circuit temporary street circuit in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York still mathematically in championship contention, but two of them, Envision Virgin Racing and Nissan e.dams, were unable to stay within the threshold required to remain championship eligible heading into the season finale.

DS Techeetah entered this race leading the team standings with 216 points and failed to score points in it, as their two drivers, Jean-Eric Vergne and Andre Lotterer, were both involved in multiple incidents throughout the race, including a last-lap incident that cost Vergne three points. They ended up finishing in 15th and 17th place, respectively.
DS Techeetah still lead the team standings, and all teams that are not within 47 points of them have been mathematically eliminated from championship contention, as a maximum of 47 points can be scored in each race (25 for winning, 18 for finishing in second place, three for taking the pole position and one for recording the fastest lap).
Only Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler, which entered this race in second place in the team standings trailing DS Techeetah by 43 points, sit within 47 points of them.
Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s two drivers, Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt, finished this race in fifth and sixth place to score 10 and eight points, respectively, to bring Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler to just 24 points behind DS Techeetah.
Here is how the team standings look among the two championship contenders heading into the season finale.
