NASCAR Xfinity Series: Austin Cindric dominates 2019 B&L Transport 170 at Mid-Ohio

One week after securing the first victory of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, Austin Cindric got back to victory lane with a dominant win at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the B&L Transport 170.

Last Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen International marked the 54th start of Austin Cindric’s career. After winning zero races in his first 53 starts, the Team Penske driver has now won two races in his first 55 starts.

One week after earning the first victory of his career, Cindric doubled his win total by dominating the B&L Transport 170 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the 21st of 33 races on the 2019 schedule.

Cindric started this 75-lap race around the 13-turn, 2.258-mile (3.634-kilometer) Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course natural terrain road course in Lexington, Ohio from the pole position in his #22 Ford, and it he won it by 3.780 seconds over Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell in second place in his #20 Toyota.

Kaulig Racing’s A.J. Allmendinger was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver of this race. One week after finishing in second place behind Cindric and losing it to Bell after he was disqualified, he finished in third in his #10 Chevrolet.

Chevrolet drivers rounded out the rest of the top six as well. Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick and JR Motorsports teammates Noah Gragson and Justin Allgaier finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place in their #2 Chevrolet, #9 Chevrolet and #7 Chevrolet, respectively.

Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Chase Briscoe and Cole Custer finished in seventh and eighth place in their #98 Ford and #00 Ford, respectively, ahead of Kaulig Racing’s Justin Haley in ninth in his #11 Chevrolet and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brandon Jones in 10th in his #19 Toyota.

This race featured a total of 10 lead changes among eight drivers. Aside of Cindric, who led more laps than anybody else in the field with 46 laps led, seven drivers led at least one lap of the race. These drivers were Bell, Gragson, Briscoe, JR Motorsports teammates Michael Annett and Regan Smith, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Jack Hawksworth and DGM Racing’s Josh Williams. Briscoe won stage one while Hawksworth won stage two in his Xfinity Series debut.

This race also featured six caution flag periods. One of the five caution flag periods that took place as a result of on-track incidents also ended stage two. The other caution flag period ended stage one. Of the 38 drivers who started the race, 26 finished it and 22 finished on the lead lap.
