6. Scuderia Toro Rosso

More than half of Scuderia Toro Rosso’s 43 points so far this season, 23 (53.49%) to be exact, were earned in one race, the dramatic German Grand Prix. If not for this race, which resulted in a third place finish for Daniil Kvyat and a sixth place finish for rookie Alexander Albon, Williams would be the only team below them in the constructor standings.

Instead, they are all the way up in fifth place. While this is not a particularly accurate measurement of the strength of their car because of how inflated is due to the German Grand Prix, they have shown their strength with several other solid showings throughout the season as well, as Kvyat and Albon have both been impressive and able to extract the most out of their cars.

Excluding the German Grand Prix, they have recorded nine top 10 finishes this season. Only four teams have recorded more than that amount.

5. Alfa Romeo Racing

In the constructor standings, Alfa Romeo Racing are just a handful of points, six to be exact, from being separated from rock bottom by only Williams. However, this position is probably the least accurate representation of any as it pertains to the strength of car through the first 12 races of the 2019 season.

Kimi Raikkonen has been extremely consistent this season with only one finish outside of the seventh through 14th place race, and he is in a position to challenge for the unofficial “best of the rest” driver title. He has shown the team’s true strength.

But rookie Antonio Giovinazzi simply hasn’t kept up. While Raikkonen has more than pulled his weight by scoring 31 points, Giovinazzi has not taken advantage of the strides that the team have made with a top finish of 10th place and the one point that came along with it.

Additionally, the team lost 10 points that they originally scored in the German Grand Prix as a result of of the fact that both Raikkonen and Giovinazzi were issued post-race penalties related to a violation they committed at the start of the race. They originally finished in seventh and eighth place and scored six and four points but were demoted to 12th and 13th, respectively, and they both scored ended up scoring none.
