Christopher Bell secured the first road course victory of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career by winning the CTECH Manufacturing 180 at Road America.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell earned his series-high sixth victory of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season and the first road course victory of his career by winning the CTECH Manufacturing 180 at Road America.

Bell started this 45-lap race, the 23rd of 33 races on the 2019 schedule, around the 14-turn, 4.048-mile (6.515-kilometer) Road America natural terrain road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin in 12th place in his #20 Toyota, and he won it by 1.891 seconds over Team Penske’s Austin Cindric, the winner of the last two road course races, in second in his #22 Ford.

Cindric was running in 20th place on the final restart with two laps remaining and carved his way through the field after pitting for new tires. He was slated to finish in third before Joe Gibbs Racing’s Matt DiBenedetto, who was running in second, spun out in the final corner of the track and ended up finishing in 27th in his #18 Toyota.

Kaulig Racing’s A.J. Allmendinger, who started the race from the pole position, was running in second place on the final restart, but he and Gragson got into each other after Allmendinger didn’t have a great restart. He ended up going off the track, and another incident shortly thereafter relegated him to a 24th place finish.

This race featured a total of eight lead changes among six drivers. Aside of Bell, who led 10 laps of the race, five other drivers led at least one lap. DiBenedetto led more laps than anybody else in the field with 18 laps led. Cindric, Haley, Briscoe and Allmendinger also led the race. Allmendinger won stage one and Briscoe won stage two.

This race also featured four caution flag periods, including three as a result of on-track incidents and one that ended stage two. One of these three caution flag periods that took place as a result of on-track incidents also served as the stage one-ending caution flag period. Of the 38 drivers who started the race, 34 finished it and 27 finished on the lead lap.
