A total of 39 drivers are set to compete in the Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, the penultimate race of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series regular season.

The 2019 NASCAR Cup Series regular season is quickly coming to a close, and following the final off weekend of the 36-race season, the penultimate race of the 26-race regular season, the Bojangles’ Southern 500, is scheduled to take place at Darlington Raceway this Sunday, September 1.

A total of 39 drivers are set to compete in this 367-lap race around the four-turn, 1.366-mile (2.198-kilometer) Darlington Raceway oval in Darlington, South Carolina, marking the eighth race of the season to feature at least 39 drivers. Of the other seven, five featured more than 39 drivers while two featured exactly 39.

Of these 39 drivers, 33 are full-time drivers, of whom only one has missed any races this season. Premium Motorsports’ Ross Chastain, who isn’t eligible to score Cup Series points as a full-time Truck Series driver, missed the June race at Michigan International Speedway.

Of the other 32 full-time drivers, StarCom Racing’s Landon Cassill is the only one who is not eligible to score Cup Series points.

The entry list for this Sunday night’s race is not full, so nobody will be bumped from the field, thus rendering charters somewhat useless for the backmarker teams that would otherwise be in the field even if they ended up being bumped out of the top 40 in qualifying.

However, it is still worth noting that six part-time drivers are set to compete in this race, and three are set to do so driving for chartered teams while three are set to do so driving for non-chartered teams.

Petty Ware Racing’s B.J. McLeod, Rick Ware Racing’s J.J. Yeley and Spire Motorsports’ Quin Houff are set to drive for chartered teams. They are set to drive the #51 Ford, the #52 Ford and the #77 Chevrolet, respectively.

Meanwhile, Premium Motorsports’ Reed Sorenson, Rick Ware Racing’s Garrett Smithley and MBM Motorsports’ Joey Gase are set to drive for non-chartered teams. They are set to drive the #27 Chevrolet, the #54 Chevrolet and the #66 Toyota, respectively.

Here is a list of the 39 drivers who are set to compete in the 2019 Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
