NASCAR Truck Series: Tyler Dippel reinstated following suspension
By Asher Fair
NASCAR Truck Series driver Tyler Dippel has been reinstated by NASCAR following his suspension for a criminal charge that ended up being dropped.
After missing one NASCAR Truck Series race as a result of an indefinite suspension, Young’s Motorsports’ Tyler Dippel has been reinstated by NASCAR.
Dippel was initially suspended for a reason that was not disclosed, other than the fact that it violated the Member Conduct Guidelines of the NASCAR Rule Book. Specifically, he was said to have violated Section 12.1, which has to do with actions detrimental to stock car racing.
It was later revealed that he had been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor, in his hometown of Walkill, New York.

The 19-year-old rookie was found to have Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine in a pill bottle inside a backpack when troopers pulled him over for changing lanes without using a proper turn signal and searched his vehicle on the night of Sunday, August 18.
As it turns out, the medication and the backpack were not his, and he had no knowledge that they were in his vehicle.
The third party to whom the prescription was written submitted a letter to the Orange County District Attorney’s office confirming this, and Orange County chief assistant district attorney Christopher Borek confirmed that his office received this sworn affidavit.
As a result, the criminal charge against Dippel was dropped, and mere hours later, NASCAR reinstated him.
Dippel ultimately ended up missing only one race, this past Sunday’s race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. In his 17 starts so far this season, his average finish is 15.29, and he has recorded three top 10 finishes, including a career-high third place finish in the regular season finale at Michigan International Speedway.
Five races remain on the 2019 schedule.
Tyler Dippel currently sits in 13th place in the NASCAR Truck Series championship standings, although he ultimately did not qualify for the playoffs. He is set to be back behind the wheel of the #02 Chevrolet in just over two weeks in the World of Westgate 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fox Sports 1 is set to provide live TV coverage of this race beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET.
