Denny Hamlin

Among active drivers, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin is the only two-time winner at Homestead-Miami Speedway, yet he is the only active winner at the track who is not a Cup Series champion. Seven different active drivers have won at the track, and all six of the one-time winners are champions.

Eventually, something has to give, right?

The 2019 season has been Hamlin’s best season in quite some time, if not of his entire career, and it has provided him with the best chance that he has ever had to win a championship.

If he can advance to the Championship 4 this year, he will be in a prime position to finally add Cup Series champion to his resume, and there will not be a driver more hungry than he would be to finally break through and secure that elusive first title.

Aside of a few crown jewel race victories that he hasn’t yet attained, he has done pretty much everything but win a title throughout his accomplished career, including winning two Daytona 500s and two Southern 500s.

What will further motivate him is the fact that he is coming off of his first career winless season, which prompted rumors that perhaps he was washed up and eyeing retirement in the near future.

He’s definitely not done yet.
