Follow along with our live qualifying updates for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoff opener, the South Point 400, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The South Point 400 is set to begin the four-round, 10-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs this Sunday, September 15, and 39 drivers are set to compete in this round of 16 opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the fifth of 13 tracks on the 36-race 2019 schedule to host two races, as it also hosted the third race of the season back in early March, a race that was won by Team Penske’s Joey Logano.

Eight of the remaining nine tracks on the schedule throughout the four-round, 10-race playoffs have already hosted one race this season, with the only one that hasn’t done so being Homestead-Miami Speedway, the site of the Championship 4 season finale.

Charlotte Motor Speedway can be considered an exception, as it hosted a race on its oval track in late May but is scheduled to host the round of 16 finale on the road course/roval layout.

So far this season, 11 different drivers representing six different teams have won at least one race, although only 10 of these drivers representing five of these teams are full-time (and playoff) drivers. Full-time Xfinity Series driver Justin Haley won the July race at Daytona International Speedway driving for Spire Motorsports.

In addition, 12 different drivers representing six different teams have taken at least one pole position so far in 2019, although only nine of these drivers representing five of these teams are playoff drivers. Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon, who took three pole positions in the regular season, failed to qualify for the playoffs, as did Stewart-Haas Racing’s Daniel Suarez.

Who will take the pole position and who will qualify where throughout the rest of the field for this 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval in Las Vegas, Nevada?
