NASCAR Cup Series: Brad Keselowski takes pole for 2019 Federated Auto Parts 400

Brad Keselowski took the pole position for the second race of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs at Richmond Raceway, the Federated Auto Parts 400.

Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski took his third pole position of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season and his third in the last nine races for the second of 10 races on the playoff schedule, the Federated Auto Parts 400, at Richmond Raceway.

Keselowski took the pole position for this 400-lap race around the four-turn, 0.75-mile (1.207-kilometer) Richmond Raceway oval in Richmond, Virginia by recording a top lap time of 21.229 seconds (127.185 miles per hour) in the single-car qualifying session for this race in his #2 Ford.

Set to start alongside Keselowski on the front row is Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick, giving Ford a front row lockout. Harvick qualified in second place in his #4 Ford.

The race’s highest qualifying Chevrolet driver and the race’s highest qualifying Toyota driver are set to start alongside one another on row two, as Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott qualified in third place in his #9 Chevrolet and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch qualified in fourth in his #18 Toyota.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin are set to share row three after qualifying in fifth and sixth place in their #14 Ford and #11 Toyota, respectively.

Set to round out the top 10 on the starting grid are Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. on row four in seventh and eighth place in their #10 Ford and #19 Toyota, respectively, and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kurt Busch and Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson on row five in ninth and 10th in their #1 Chevrolet and #48 Chevrolet, respectively.

Of the drivers who qualified in the top 10, only Johnson is not in the playoffs.
