After their mini-brawl at Martinsville Speedway, Denny Hamlin mocked fellow NASCAR Cup Series playoff driver Joey Logano with an animated “Ah, short-track racin’!”, drawing cheers from the fired-up crowd.

As the end of the NASCAR Cup Series round of 8 playoff race at Martinsville Speedway neared, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin and Team Penske’s Joey Logano made contact.

Hamlin’s #11 Toyota made contact with the left side of Logano’s #22 Ford as the two drivers came off of turn four of the four-turn, 0.526-mile (0.847-kilometer) Martinsville Speedway oval in Ridgeway, Virginia.

This caused one of Logano’s tires to go down, and a few laps later, he spun out.

Logano managed to recover to finish the First Data 500 in eighth place, four positions behind Hamlin in fourth. But that didn’t stop the two drivers involved in the incident from having a discussion on pit road after the race.

This discussion ended when Logano shoved Hamlin and began to move away quickly, but that is when the brawl between crew members of both drivers began.

Hamlin was interviewed after the scuffle, which did not end without both drivers trying to get at one another even after the discussion appeared to be “over”.

Hamlin stated that “everything was civil” before Logano pushed him and ran away, also implying that the reigning champion was “scared”.

As he discussed the matter, the crowd began to roar louder and louder.

When asked about the incident that led to the scuffle, Hamlin hesitated a bit before describing what went down that ultimately resulted in Logano getting into the wall and sustaining a flat tire, causing him to spin out.

That’s when Hamlin mocked Logano, stating “Ah, short-track racin’!” in an animated Logano voice that fans won’t forget anytime soon — especially not the Martinsville Speedway fans who have made it a tradition to boo Logano given how many notable incidents in which he has been involved there over the last few years.

And that’s when the crowd really got into it.
