The AAA Texas 500, the second of three races in the round of 8 of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, is set to feature a full field of 40 drivers.

Just three races remain on the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, and the first of these three races is the second of three races in the round of 8 of the four-round, 10-race playoffs, the AAA Texas 500, at Texas Motor Speedway.

A total of 40 drivers are set to compete in this 334-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas, making this race the 10th race of the season to feature a full field.

The first race at Texas Motor Speedway this season was held back in late March, and it was one of the four races that have featured 39 drivers so far this year. It was Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin who won this race.

Set to compete in Sunday afternoon’s AAA Texas 500 are 32 of the 33 full-time drivers, as Front Row Motorsports rookie Matt Tifft, who missed this past Sunday’s race at Martinsville Speedway as a result of a seizure he suffered on the day before the race, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. He is set to be replaced by John Hunter Nemechek behind the wheel of the #36 Ford.

One of the other full-time drivers, Premium Motorsports’ Ross Chastain, is the only full-time driver who is set to compete in this race having missed at least one race this season. He missed the June race at Michigan International Speedway due to his Truck Series commitment at Texas Motor Speedway that weekend.

Chastain, who usually drives the chartered #15 Chevrolet, is set to be replaced by Joe Nemechek in the AAA Texas 500. Chastain is set to drive the non-chartered #27 Chevrolet for Premium Motorsports in this race instead.

Of six part-time drivers, aside of Joe Nemechek, who are set to compete in this race, three are set to drive for chartered teams while four are not. The three who are set to do so are Petty Ware Racing’s Josh Bilicki, Rick Ware Racing’s Garrett Smithley and Spire Motorsports’ Quin Houff while the three who are not are Rick Ware Racing’s J.J. Yeley, MBM Motorsports’ Timmy Hill and Gaunt Brothers Racing’s Parker Kligerman, NASCAR’s fastest driver in 2019.
