NASCAR: New audio reveals exactly what led up to Denny Hamlin-Joey Logano brawl

New audio released by NASCAR reveals exactly what led up to the brawl between Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin following the playoff race at Martinsville Speedway.
After the First Data 500 at Martinsville Speedway, the first of three races in the round of 8 of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, this past Sunday, Team Penske’s Joey Logano was not happy with fellow playoff driver Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing.
Late in the race, Hamlin’s #11 Toyota made contact with Logano’s #22 Ford coming off of turn four of the four-turn, 0.526-mile (0.847-kilometer) Martinsville Speedway oval in Ridgeway, Virginia.
This contact sent Logano’s #22 Ford into the wall, causing one of his tires to go down, which ultimately resulted in him spinning out and losing tons of track position shortly thereafter, leading him to make an unscheduled pit stop.

Logano rallied, but it was not enough to catch back up to Hamlin. Hamlin finished in fourth place, four positions ahead of Logano in eighth.
Logano confronted Hamlin after the race. After what Hamlin later described as a “civil” discussion, Logano shoved him before quickly moving away, leading to a brawl between crew members of both drivers.
Hamlin and Logano both tried to get a crack at one another, but both were restrained from doing so.
But what, exactly, was said that led to Logano putting his hand on Hamlin, and what was ultimately said that led to the drivers to try to get cracks at one another even after their discussion appeared to be over?
NASCAR RACE HUB’s Martinsville RADIOACTIVE revealed the following.
“All the way to the wall,” stated Logano.
“No, I did see you,” responded Hamlin.
“Like I wasn’t even there. All the way to the wall. My right sides are up,” Logano fired back.
“No, I knew you were there. But, I was trying to take all the space I could,” Hamlin retorted.
“Just think about that in the future. I’m going to take the space (expletive),” said Logano, who then shoved Hamlin and quickly moved away, leading to the brawl.
Seconds later, Logano tried to get back to Hamlin while Hamlin was being restrained.
“You wanna f—ing go?” he asked. “You wanna f—ing go?”
Hamlin accepted the challenge.
“Come here. Yes! Yes! Come here.”
But Hamlin was stopped by crew chief Chris Gabehart.
“Just stop it. It ain’t going to be worth it. Listen to me. It’s not worth it.”
Here is the audio itself.
Will these two drivers create more fireworks throughout the rest of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs? The AAA Texas 500, the second of three race in the round of 8, is scheduled to take place this Sunday, November 3. This race is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network from Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET.
