Christopher Bell secured his series-high eighth victory of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series series by winning the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer entered the second of three races in the round of 8 of the three-round, seven-race 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs tied atop the wins list with seven.

Bell broke that tie with his series-high eighth victory of the season to lock himself into the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Bell started this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas in third place in his #20 Toyota, and he won it by 5.561 seconds over Kaulig Racing’s Ross Chastain in second in his #10 Chevrolet.

Team Penske’s Austin Cindric was the highest finishing Ford driver and the highest finishing round of 8 driver other than Bell in this race. He finished in third place in his #22 Ford.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brandon Jones and GMS Racing’s John Hunter Nemechek, both of who were eliminated from playoff contention following the round of 12, rounded out the top five by finishing in fourth and fifth place in their #19 Toyota and #23 Chevrolet, respectively.

Misfortune struck several round of 8 drivers late, with JR Motorsports’ Noah Gragson going for a ride through the grass that ended his night, Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick crashing after leading 32 laps and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe hitting the wall several times with various issues as the laps wound down.

This race featured a total of nine lead changes among four drivers. Aside of Bell, who led a race-high 101 laps, three other drivers led the race. As referenced above, Reddick, who started from the pole position, led 32 laps. Chastain led 29 laps while Cindric led 38. Bell won both stage one and stage two.

The race also featured nine caution flag periods and a red flag period. In total, 28 of the 38 drivers who started the race finished it, and of these 28 drivers, 14 finished on the lead lap.
