Kyle Busch joked that “fans love me so much” competing in NASCAR Xfinity Series races, something he knows is sure to cause controversy.

Kyle Busch is the winningest driver in NASCAR Xfinity Series and Truck Series history, with 96 career victories in the former and 56 career victories in the later.

In fact, his combined win total in the Xfinity Series and Truck Series since he became a Cup Series driver in the 2005 season is 147. Only Richard Petty has more than 147 victories across all of NASCAR throughout his entire career.

As a result, the fact that Busch competes in these races, and quite often wins them, causes controversy among fans, with fans demanding that Cup Series drivers no longer be able to “steal candy from babies” by competing in these series.

More from Xfinity Series

Busch is well aware of the fact that many fans don’t like the idea of him competing in Xfinity Series, and he has also commented on that before, explaining why he continues to compete in the races in which he is allowed to compete.

He has also stated on numerous occasions that he will be done competing in the Xfinity Series once he reaches 100 wins, a mark that he is currently four wins shy of.

He spoke about the matter again this past weekend, and he offered up a sarcastic remark about how fans feel about him competing in NASCAR’s second highest series.

Here is what he had to say, according to Jayski.

"“Yeah, I’ve said it over and over again. I would be there by now and I would have been out of it by now but apparently NASCAR and the fans love me there so much they keep make limitations on keeping me there. I’ve also said that I’ll get to 100 and then I don’t need to be there. That’s just kind of a number I would like to get to.”"

Busch is referring to the limits, which continue to get stricter and stricter, that say that Cup Series drivers with five or more seasons of full-time experience in the Cup Series are permitted to compete in as many as seven Xfinity Series races per season. That limit is set to be further reduced to five races next year.

So unless Kyle Busch wins four of his five starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series next year, fans who don’t want to see him back in the series will likely be seeing him back in 2021 as well — a problem that could be solved with more lenient restrictions on Cup Series drivers in the Xfinity Series.

And he isn’t afraid to point that out, turning his own frustration into a statement sure to frustrate his haters and critics.
