Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll failed to reach Q2 this season until the German Grand Prix, and he has only made it out of Q1 six times all year. He has featured in Q3 just the once and has been outqualified by teammate Sergio Perez on 16 occasions. He also sits on just 21 points, despite a fourth place finish, 23 points further back from Perez. Finally, Perez has secured nine point-scoring finishes to Stroll’s six.

Based on these statistics, Stroll should already have his seat under threat, but given the investment made in the team by his father Lawrence, he is likely to be granted more time than one of his rivals would. Having said that, Lance cannot continue to underperform and cost his team points, especially as they look to push towards the front of the grid.

The most frustrating thing about Stroll is that he can deliver great performances, but they are far too infrequent. If he is going to have a long-term future in Formula 1, he needs to find a way to be more consistent and deliver better results in comparison with his teammate. Perez is a highly experienced and talented driver, but the difference between the two cannot be so vast in 2020 if Stroll is to retain his seat for another year.
