5 tracks that could host a NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA tripleheader

Having a weekend that includes NASCAR, IndyCar and IMSA at the same track would have all the makings to one of the best weekends in all of motorsports. The biggest question regarding this would be what track would be able to host such an event.

There is definitely a short list of tracks that would be able to host a mega-event such as this hypothetical tripleheader weekend. There are a few that have hosted all three of these series over the course of a single season.

Nothing like this is in the works at the moment, and it would be very difficult to pull off an event like this in the near future.

It would be very hard to coordinate all three of these series’ schedules, and the access to enough room at tracks could be an issue due to the support series that run during NASCAR, IndyCar and IMSA race weekends.

But hey, we can dream, can’t we?

These are the top five tracks that I think would be the best fit for a tripleheader NASCAR, IndyCar and IMSA race weekend.

5. Road America

Road America currently hosts races in each of these of these three series, with one IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship race, an NTT IndyCar Series race and a NASCAR Xfinity Series race.

The Xfinity Series has been racing at the track once a year since 2010, but there has only been one Cup Series race there, and that was held all the way back in 1956. It may be time for a return to Road America.

Road America is one of my favorite and one of the most iconic tracks in the country. The 14-turn, 4.048-mile (6.515-kilometer) road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin would make for great Cup Series racing, as we have seen it over the years in the Xfinity Series, IndyCar and IMSA.
