By Asher Fair
Stewart-Haas Racing have confirmed that Chase Briscoe is set to return to the team for the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.
Confirming previous speculation, Stewart-Haas Racing announced that Chase Briscoe is slated to return to the team for a second full season behind the wheel of the #98 Ford in the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.
The 25-year-old Mitchell, Indiana native is set to be the team’s lone driver in 2020 after running as the teammate to Cole Custer, who is now slated to compete for Stewart-Haas Racing in the Cup Series, in 2019.
Here is what Briscoe had to say about the opportunity to return to the team in 2020, according to NASCAR.
"“This is the first time I’ll be able to run back-to-back, full seasons with the same team, and I couldn’t be happier to do it with Stewart-Haas Racing. Their faith in me means a lot, and I want to reward them and Ford with more wins and a run for the championship.”"
Here is what team co-owner Tony Stewart had to add.
"“We’re very proud to have Chase back with Stewart-Haas Racing. Chase is an Indiana kid with a dirt-track background who has shown he can race on asphalt as well as he can on dirt. We think very highly of him and look forward to a strong season in 2020.”"

Briscoe won Rookie of the Year honors in the 2019 season by placing fifth in the championship standings as the highest ranking non-Championship 4 driver.
With three of the four Championship 4 drivers, including Custer, set to compete in the Cup Series this year, Briscoe opens the 2020 season as one of the early title favorites.
In the 2019 season, Briscoe secured his second career Xfinity Series victory at Iowa Speedway, as he competed part-time in the 2018 season and won the inaugural race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway roval driving for Stewart-Haas Racing.
His average finish in his rookie season was 8.2, second only to champion Tyler Reddick (6.3), who is Cup Series-bound with Richard Childress Racing. He racked up 26 top 10 finishes, of which 13 were top five finishes, over the course of the 33-race season, also second to Reddick (27).
The NASCAR Racing Experience 300 is scheduled to get the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season underway on Saturday, February 15. Fox Sports 1 is set to broadcast the race live from Daytona International Speedway beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.
