NASCAR: Matt Tifft had another seizure in December
By Asher Fair
Matt Tifft revealed that he had another seizure in December following the one that ended his rookie NASCAR Cup Series season in October.
Matt Tifft’s rookie NASCAR Cup Series season was cut short by four races after he suffered a seizure leading up to the round of 8 playoff race at Martinsville Speedway in late October.
After he was replaced by Matt Crafton in this race and John Hunter Nemechek in the final three races of the 36-race season, he and Front Row Motorsports announced that they had mutually parted ways, with Tifft confirming that his focus justifiably had to shift to his health.
Tifft’s rookie season ended with him having recorded a top finish of ninth place in the rain-shortened July race at Daytona International Speedway.
But unfortunately for the 23-year-old Fairfax, Virginia native, even after he stepped away from NASCAR, he suffered another seizure, this one coming on his honeymoon just days after his wedding in December.
Tifft revealed this news in a Twitter post.

As Tifft continues to focus on his health, it is worth noting that he does not have a ride lined up for the 2020 season, and there is certainly no rush for him to get back behind the wheel, nor should there be.
In fact, the #36 team for which he drove in his rookie year was cut from Front Row Motorsports, and they downsized to two cars from three. Nemechek is slated to replace the retired David Ragan and Michael McDowell is set to return to the team.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Matt Tifft as he continues to focus on his health and “rewiring” his brain so that he no longer has to deal with this significant health issue, and we certainly hope that the light he sees in this getting better does turn out to be a light that leads him to a speedy and full recovery.
