NASCAR Cup Series: Early 2020 power rankings
By Asher Fair
#2 and #1
The difference between left and right is the difference between the tune we should be singing and the tune we are singing about Martin Truex Jr. Truex dominated the Championship 4 prior to his pit crew’s miscue, and he simply didn’t have enough to get back to the front and give Kyle Busch a run for his money. But don’t let that fool you. Over the last three years, Truex has more wins than anybody (19), and he has never finished outside the top two in the championship standings. He has qualified for four of the last five Championship 4s. If he’s not the best of the best, he’s clearly #2.

Just when you think Kyle Busch is down and out, he not only clinches his fifth consecutive Championship 4 appearance but wins his second championship.
A 21-race win drought? No wins in five and a half months?
Didn’t matter, and it won’t matter moving forward.
Busch proved that he is still the best driver in NASCAR, and over the last five or six years, there hasn’t been anyone to take that crown and keep it away from him. The odds that that will change in the near future, even if Busch doesn’t win back-to-back championships, are slim.
The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season is scheduled to get underway on Sunday, February 16 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida with the 62nd annual Daytona 500. Fox is set to broadcast this race live beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.
