William Byron

The 2018 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year is slated to enter his third full-time season in 2020. William Byron enters the season as the favorite to get his first career Cup Series win.

In his second season, Byron recorded 13 top 10 finishes and five top five finishes. On top of that, the 22-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina native was able to take five pole positions, second only to Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick.

The improvement that Byron showed from 2018 to 2019 was evident. He recorded nine more top 10 finishes, and his five top five finishes came after he had never previously finished in the top five. He had also never previously taken a pole position.

Byron also made the playoffs for the first time 2019, and he was not eliminated until after the round of 12. He finished in 11th place in the championship standings, a 12-position improvement from 23rd in his rookie campaign.

It seems that Byron and the #24 team are finally poised to get some wins in 2020. With Chad Knaus atop the pit box, he should definitely find victory lane, and it would not be surprising if he goes on a run and wins multiple races in 2020.

Some tracks at which Byron could score his first win are the superspeedways, the road courses and Martinsville Speedway. Byron was able to lead laps and be competitive at all those tracks in 2019, recording career-high second place finishes at Daytona International Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.
