UPDATE: Full qualifying recap HERE.
The start of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season is still a week away, but the first two starting positions for the season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway are set to be determined this afternoon.
Today’s single-car qualifying session is slated to set the front row for the 62nd edition of this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) superspeedway oval in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The remaining drivers will be forced to solidify their starting positions for the race in the Bluegreen Vacations Duels on Thursday, February 13.

There are 43 drivers on the entry list for next Sunday’s main event, meaning that three drivers will ultimately fail to qualify with the maximum field size being 40.
A total of 36 drivers are already locked into the field due to the fact that they are driving chartered entries, so the remaining four spots will come down to seven drivers. Two of those seven drivers will lock themselves into the field in today’s single-car qualifying session while the remaining two slots will remain open heading into this Thursday.
Which two drivers will qualify on the front row for next Sunday’s 62nd annual Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, and which drivers will be left needing to battle for good starting positions — and any starting positions in general — for the race in Thursday night’s Bluegreen Vacations Duels?
