Amid postponement and cancellation after postponement and cancellation in the world of sports as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, NASCAR remained relatively unaffected, and there was a slight belief that this would remain the case.
All three of the sport’s top three series (Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Truck Series) were slated to compete at Atlanta Motor Speedway this past weekend.
NASCAR initially kept that the case, but announced that there would not be any fans in attendance at the four-turn, 1.54-mile (2.478-kilometer) oval in Hampton, Georgia.

They made the same move for next weekend’s festivities at Homestead-Miami Speedway, which also included races in all three of these series. But that did not last. NASCAR ended up axing both of these race weekends, and they have since gone further down the schedule and abandoned several more.
