NASCAR: Unofficial iRacing standings after Richmond
By Asher Fair
Take a look at the unofficial eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series championship standings using NASCAR’s scoring system following the race at virtual Richmond Raceway.
Following a week off for Easter, NASCAR got back into virtual action with the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series for a race at virtual Richmond Raceway. This race was the fourth race since the series was introduced in response to the coronavirus pandemic putting all real-life action on hold.
For the fourth race in a row, it was William Byron who led the most laps, and for the second race it a row, it was Byron who took the checkered flag.
The 22-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina native also won at virtual Bristol Motor Speedway two weeks ago after failing to translate great speed into wins in the races at virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway and virtual Texas Motor Speedway leading up to that race.

The other two race winners thus far are Denny Hamlin and Timmy Hill. Hamlin won the series opener at virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway while Hill won the second race at virtual Texas Motor Speedway. Hamlin finished in sixth place at virtual Richmond Raceway while Hill finished right behind Byron in second.
A total of 42 drivers have competed in at least one of these four races thus far. Of these 42 drivers, 24 have competed in all four races. Eight drivers have competed in three races, two have competed in two and the other eight have competed in only one.
Of the eight drivers who have competed in only one race thus far, only one competed in the race at virtual Richmond Raceway. That driver was Kevin Harvick.
There are no official championship standings being kept for the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series. But let’s take a look at what the standings would look like through the race at virtual Richmond Raceway if NASCAR’s scoring system were being used.
NOTE: There are no stages or stage points in these iRacing events like there are in real life.

Timmy Hill’s worst finish so far is third place, which he recorded in the races at virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway and virtual Bristol Motor Speedway, so it is not surprising to see him at the top of the unofficial championship standings through four races, and with a comfortable lead over Denny Hamlin in second as well.
Among the 24 drivers who have competed in every race, the second-best worst finish behind Hill’s third place finishes is 10 positions worse: a 13th place finish by Parker Kligerman at virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway. Hill’s average finish is a series-best 2.25. The second best average finish is Garrett Smithley’s, and it is more than six positions worse than Hill’s at 8.50.
The next race on the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series schedule is scheduled to take place at virtual Talladega Superspeedway next Sunday, April 26. Beyond that, there is just one more race on the schedule, but the schedule could be extended due to additional real-life NASCAR Cup Series race postponements.
