NASCAR: Unofficial iRacing standings after Talladega
By Asher Fair
Take a look at the unofficial eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series championship standings using NASCAR’s scoring system following Alex Bowman’s win at virtual Talladega Superspeedway.
The fifth of six races on the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series schedule took place on Sunday afternoon at virtual Talladega Superspeedway, leaving just one more virtual race before NASCAR hopes to return to real-life action.
This virtual series has been going on for the last several weeks as a result of the fact that real-life action was halted following the race at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, March 8 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
For the first time in these five races, it was somebody other than William Byron who led the most laps on Sunday afternoon.

This race was a 74-lap race (upped from 70 due to overtime) around the four-turn, 2.66-mile (4.281-kilometer) high-banked oval in Lincoln, Alabama, and nobody led more than 11 laps. Two drivers, Brad Keselowski and John Hunter Nemechek, each led 11 laps.
It was Alex Bowman who prevailed to become the fourth different winner in five races. Byron entered the race having won the last two events at virtual Bristol Motor Speedway and virtual Richmond Raceway.
Denny Hamlin, whose daughter shut off his main screen during Sunday’s race and caused him to finish in 39th (last) place, won the opener at virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway, and Timmy Hill won the next race at virtual Texas Motor Speedway.
A total of 50 drivers have competed in at least one of the five races of this series thus far. Of these 50 drivers, 23 have competed in each of these five races, eight have competed in four races, one has competed in three races, two have competed in three races and 15 have only competed in one race.
Of the 15 drivers who have only competed in only one race, eight competed in the race at virtual Talladega Superspeedway. The highest finisher among those eight drivers was Corey LaJoie, who placed second.
While there are no official championship standings being kept for the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series, take a look at what they would look like through the race at virtual Talladega Superspeedway if NASCAR’s scoring system were being used.
NOTE: There are no stages or stage points in these iRacing events like there are in real life.

Timmy Hill has led the championship standings since winning the race at virtual Texas Motor Speedway, and that should come as no surprise to anybody. Prior to his 11th place finish at virtual Talladega Superspeedway, his worst finishes were third place finishes at virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway and virtual Bristol Motor Speedway.
The sixth and final race on the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series schedule is scheduled to take place next Sunday, May 3 at virtual Dover International Speedway. This race is set to be simulcast live on Fox, Fox Sports 1 and the Fox Sports app beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET.
