Tommy Baldwin Racing haven’t competed in a NASCAR Cup Series race since the 2017 season, but that is set to change this weekend at Darlington Raceway.

When the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season returns this Sunday, May 17 at Darlington Raceway following a 10-week stoppage due to the coronavirus pandemic, so will a team that we haven’t seen since the 2017 season.

Tommy Baldwin Racing are set to field the #7 Chevrolet in this 293-lap race around the four-turn, 1.366-mile (2.198-kilometer) oval in Darlington, South Carolina.

The last time they competed in a Cup Series race was in November of 2017 when they fielded the #7 Chevrolet for Joey Gase at Phoenix Raceway.

They did attempt to compete in the 2019 Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway with Ryan Truex behind the wheel of the #71 Chevrolet, but he failed to finish high enough in his Duel qualifying race to qualify for the main event. They have not attempted to compete in any more races since then.

Here is what team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr. had to say about the return of his team to NASCAR’s highest level.

"“I am excited to be returning to the NASCAR Cup Series. I have been in this sport for a long time, and I believe now is the best time to get back to the track.”"

Behind the wheel of the #7 Chevrolet for this Sunday’s race is set to be Josh Bilicki, who has competed part-time for Rick Ware Racing since the 2017 season. Tommy Baldwin Jr. is set to serve as the crew chief for the #7 team.

The #7 Chevrolet is set to carry primary sponsorship from Gravely Mowers.

A total of 40 cars are on the entry list for Sunday afternoon’s race. The series hasn’t seen a full 40-car field since the season-opening Daytona 500 back in mid-February.
