NASCAR: 5 drivers who need a quick start at Darlington and Charlotte
Christopher Bell
Ever since Christopher Bell began driving the #95 Toyota for Leavine Family Racing, he has not had the luck or really the speed that was expected from him. Many people thought he was going to be the best rookie out of a stacked rookie class featuring Tyler Reddick, Cole Custer, John Hunter Nemechek, Brennan Poole, Quin Houff and himself.
Bell currently sits 32nd place in the championship standings, and he has only scored 26 points in four races this season. He sits behind David Ragan and Ryan Newman, drivers who have only raced in the Daytona 500.
It has been a rough start to the season for Bell. He began the season with a fast car in the Daytona 500, but he was collected in a late wreck. Then at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Toyotas lacked speed and Bell spun out off the bumper of Bubba Wallace Jr. That was followed up by an engine failure at Auto Club Speedway and another spin at Phoenix Raceway.
Bell already sits 64 points behind Kurt Busch, who sits in 16th place in the standings in the final playoff transfer spot. It is important for him to string together a few good runs to gain some momentum before he falls too far behind.
He did finish in second place behind William Byron in the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series race at Dover International Speedway, so that may provide a source of some confidence and momentum for him.
