Because tonight’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed, NASCAR has made changes to the upcoming race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Being forced to postpone a race from Wednesday night to Thursday night due to a tropical storm is not an ideal situation for NASCAR, especially given the fact that there are races scheduled to take place this weekend at a different venue.

Unfortunately, Tropical Storm Bertha put the sport in that situation, as tonight’s Alsco Uniforms 500 Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed from this evening at 8:00 p.m. ET until tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. ET.

With NASCAR initially slated to move to Bristol Motor Speedway for an Xfinity Series race on Saturday and another Cup Series race on Sunday, tonight’s rainout at the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Concord, North Carolina has caused that schedule to change.

More from Xfinity Series

The Cup Series race, the Food City presents the Supermarket Heroes 500, at the four-turn, 0.533-mile (0.858-kilometer) oval in Bristol, Tennessee is still scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 31.

But the track’s Xfinity Series race, the Cheddar’s 300 presented by Alsco, has been delayed by two days from Saturday, May 30 to Monday, June 1. This change was made due to the travel and setup changes associated with sticking around at Charlotte Motor Speedway one day longer than expected. This race is still set to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 despite its two-day postponement.

This is the second Xfinity Series race postponement in three races since the sport returned amid the coronavirus pandemic, as the race at Darlington Raceway had to be moved from Tuesday, May 19 to Thursday, May 21 due to rain, extending NASCAR’s stay at the track “Too Tough To Tame” by one extra day as well.
