NASCAR: Chiefs superfan Clint Bowyer makes his Super Bowl LV pick
By Asher Fair
NASCAR Cup Series driver and Kansas City Chiefs superfan Clint Bowyer told Beyond the Flag his prediction for Super Bowl LV.
Nobody was happier to see the clock hit 0:00 on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida than Stewart-Haas Racing NASCAR Cup Series driver Clint Bowyer, as his Kansas City Chiefs won their first Super Bowl in 50 years by knocking off the five-time champion San Francisco 49ers by a score of 31-20.
The 41-year-old Emporia, Kansas native got to experience the first Chiefs Super Bowl victory of his lifetime in person, as he was among the 62,417 people in attendance for Super Bowl LIV.
We caught up with Bowyer before the start of the 2020 Cup Series season and asked him about his Super Bowl experience. With the offseason between the 2019 and 2020 NFL seasons (presumably) more than halfway complete, we got Bowyer’s thoughts on the upcoming season.

When told he would not be asked specifically whether or not the Chiefs would be contestants in Super Bowl LV for obvious reasons, Bowyer responded appropriately.
“Because that would be a dumb question.”
When asked who he sees the Chiefs squaring off against when Sunday, February 7, 2021 rolls around, he had to think for a second.
“That’s a great question. Well-put, well thought-out.”
Among this year’s favorites in the NFC are the reigning conference champion 49ers as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who picked up quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski this offseason, and the New Orleans Saints, who have been arguably the best team in the NFL over the last two or three seasons yet haven’t managed a single Super Bowl appearance during that time.
For Bowyer, however, the formula is a lot more simple.
“Who cares? They’re gonna be losers, that’s who it’s gonna be,” he said. “Whoever decides to lose a Super Bowl, that’s who’s gonna play the Chiefs.”
The Chiefs are set to enter the 2020 season riding a nine-game winning streak, which includes four consecutive comeback victories. They are set to open up the season on Thursday Night Football on NBC on Thursday, September 10 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
