Denny Hamlin took the pole position for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway via an owner points-based random draw.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin has won two of the first 11 races of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, but he has not yet started a race from the pole position. That is slated to change this Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Hamlin is set to start this Sunday afternoon’s Dixie Vodka 400 from the pole position in his #11 Toyota after drawing the top spot in an owner points-based random draw. This marks four consecutive pole positions for Hamlin at Homestead-Miami Speedway going back to the 2017 season finale.

Set to start this 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Homestead, Florida alongside Hamlin in second place is Team Penske’s Joey Logano, who has also won two races so far this season in his #22 Ford. Despite having two wins to his name, he has not yet started a race on the front row in 2020.

The second row is also slated to feature one Team Penske driver and one Joe Gibbs Racing driver. Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski is set to start in third place in his #2 Ford alongside Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch in fourth in his #18 Toyota.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott drew the highest starting position among the Chevrolet drivers, as he is set to start in fifth place in his #9 Chevrolet alongside Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. in sixth in his #19 Toyota.

Set to share the fourth row are Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick in seventh place in his #4 Ford and Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman in eighth in his #88 Chevrolet.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kurt Busch are set to round out the top 10 on the fifth row in ninth and 10th place in their #48 Chevrolet and #1 Chevrolet, respectively.

Based on the rules of this draw, the top 12 drivers in the standings all had a chance to take the pole position. Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer were the two drivers among this group of 12 competitors who were left outside of the top 10. Blaney is set to start in 11th place in his #12 Ford while Bowyer is set to start in 12th in his #14 Ford.
