While several seats are set, several remain unconfirmed for the 2021 Formula 1 season. How will next year’s driver lineup look?

Before the 2020 Formula 1 season even had the chance to get underway, Silly Season for next year got started with a bang.

With the sport not in action due to the coronavirus pandemic and the start of the season having been pushed back from its originally scheduled date of Sunday, March 15 to this Sunday, July 5, teams still took the opportunity to assess their driver lineups and make signings for next year.

Much of the action took place in mid-May, with several teams and drivers having announced the end of active relationships and the beginning of new ones for 2021 — even with an entire season still to run before then.

Entering the offseason between the 2019 and 2020 seasons, just three of the 20 drivers at three of the sport’s 10 teams on this year’s grid had rides already lined up and confirmed for 2021. As of now, 10 seats among six teams are full for next year, leaving 10 among six teams still without confirmed drivers.

Even with the confirmations which have already been made, there is still plenty to sort out moving forward.

How will the 2021 Formula 1 driver lineup shape out? Here are our predictions.
