Matt DiBenedetto took the pole position for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway with his 20th place finish in today’s race.

Wood Brothers Racing’s Matt DiBenedetto finished in a disappointing 20th place and two laps off the lead lap in Saturday’s Drydene 311 NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway after leading 17 laps.

But that disappointment has netted him the pole position for Sunday’s Drydene 311 at the four-turn, 1.0-mile (1.609-kilometer) Monster Mile oval in Dover, Delaware.

The top 20 drivers from Saturday’s race are set to start Sunday’s race from the top 20, but in reverse order.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

So set to start alongside DiBenedetto’s #21 Ford on the front row in second place is Roush Fenway Racing’s Ryan Newman, who finished Saturday’s race in 19th behind the wheel of his #6 Ford.

Meanwhile, Saturday race winner Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing is set to start in 20th place behind the wheel of his #11 Toyota alongside runner-up and teammate Martin Truex Jr. in 19th behind the wheel of his #19 Toyota.

The 20 drivers who finished Saturday’s race from 21st through 40th are set to start from 21st through 40th in Sunday’s race, but they are set to line up based on the new qualifying formula that NASCAR recently implemented.

This formula places 50% weight on each driver’s most recent finish, 35% weight on each team’s position in the owner standings and 15% weight on the rank of each driver in their of fastest lap in the most recent race.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman, who finished Saturday’s race in 21st place, led these 20 drivers in this metric and is set to start Sunday’s race in 21st as well.

Here is the unofficial starting lineup for the second 2020 Drydene 311 at Dover International Speedway.
