Through the new NASCAR qualifying formula, Kevin Harvick took another pole position, this time for the 2020 regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway.

The new NASCAR qualifying formula is being used for the third time for the Cup Series this weekend at Daytona International Speedway, and for the second time, it has secured Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick a pole position.

The 44-year-old Bakersfield, California native also took the pole position for the race at the Daytona International Speedway road course two weekends ago, the first race for which this formula was used to determine the starting lineup.

By having the best combination of most recent race finish (50%), position in the owner standings (35%), and rank of fastest lap in the most recent race (15%), Harvick is set to start the 2020 regular season finale from the pole position.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

Harvick won this past Sunday’s race at Dover International Speedway, and his #4 Ford comfortably sits atop the owner standings. In fact, he has already clinched the regular season championship due to his 134-point lead in the driver standings over Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin, who drives the #11 Toyota, in second place.

Finally, in terms of the fastest lap from this past Sunday’s race at the Monster Mile, Harvick’s ranked on top, meaning he swept all three categories of the qualifying metric.
