NASCAR: Ryan Blaney’s Daytona BODYARMOR paint scheme revealed
By Asher Fair
BODYARMOR’s “Pick the Paint” promotion has concluded, and the car that Ryan Blaney is set to run in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway has been revealed.
Over the course of a few weeks, fans had the opportunity to pick which BODYARMOR paint scheme Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney would run on his #12 Ford in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, August 29.
The three options in this “Pick the Paint” promotion were Orange Mango, Tropical Punch and Strawberry Banana, three color paint schemes designed by graffiti artist Amuse126.
Blaney spoke a bit about his partnership with the team when discussing this unique promotion with Beyond the Flag.

“I’ve been with BODYARMOR for three or four years now,” he said. “Really doesn’t feel like three or four years, but I have a really cool relationship with those guys. They’re great people. … It’s been a pleasure to go visit them when we can and see their growth.
“I think that’s been the most amazing thing to me is four years ago when we sat down with them, they were kind of just getting started. Seeing where we are today, where they are today, as far as the growth side of it, and what they plan on doing here the next five years has just been incredible. It’s been really cool to be a part of that family.”
Blaney says that his deal with the New York-based sports drinks company began as a personal deal and evolved into a deal that allows them to serve as the primary sponsor on his car, which they have done on multiple occasions already this year.
“It started with just me having a personal deal with them to now they’re on the race car for a handful of races a year,” he added. “That’s really neat, and it’s led to promotions like Pick the Paint and other promotions we’ve had with those guys.
“It’s just been a really great relationship, and really how the Pick the Paint deal got set up is just we wanted fans to literally do what the promotion says, pick what paint scheme we were gonna run in the regular season finale at Daytona.”
The regular season finale is BODYARMOR’s final race of the year as Blaney’s primary sponsor, and they are set to enter it with the Strawberry Banana paint scheme.
“It’s really, really great; the fan interaction that came with that just shows how much the sport can influence people and really get products out there,” Blaney remarked. “That was a great promotion. I’m excited for that car to get on the race track. I think it will look great under the lights. That’s something that BODYARMOR came up with and we ran with and people really took to it.”
Asked which scheme he wanted to win, Blaney admitted that he was pulling for Strawberry Banana.
“I liked them all, personally. I thought they were all unique in their own way, different colors and things like that. With Strawberry Banana winning, I thought that one was neat,” he said. “I couldn’t wait to see all of them under the lights because I think lights make bright cars pop so well, and so with that one winning, I thought that was a really unique color on that one, and I can’t wait to see what it looks like in person, obviously I’ve seen renderings of all of them.
“But really until you see a car in person and on the race track and under the lights, you don’t really know. I might’ve been secretly favoriting that one, I didn’t want to favor any one of them, I wanted the fans to really pick it, but in the back of my head, that was the favorite one, so I’m happy it won.”
Tune in to the NBC at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 29 for the live broadcast of the regular season finale, the Coca Zero Sugar 400, from Daytona International Speedway.
