NASCAR: 3 possible landing spots for Bubba Wallace in 2021

Bubba Wallace 2021 landing spots: JTG Daugherty Racing
JTG Daugherty Racing certainly aren’t on the same level as Chip Ganassi Racing and Hendrick Motorsports from a competitive standpoint, but they are quite a bit better than their results indicate and could provide Bubba Wallace the perfect opportunity to continue to make his case for a top-tier ride.

While Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is competing for the team on a multi-year deal, Ryan Preece is a pending free agent and has not had a great second season for the team in 2020, having finished no higher than 12th place through the first 27 races and sitting down in 30th in the championship standings. There is mounting speculation that he won’t be back behind the wheel of the #37 Chevrolet in 2021.
Stenhouse has shown solid speed on multiple occasions, despite the fact that he sits down in 24th place in the championship standings.
Just look at what Chris Buescher did last year driving for the team if you need more evidence that JTG Daugherty Racing are an underrated team that haven’t necessarily shown their true potential results-wise this season: he reeled off 16 straight top 18 finishes at one point. Not even Jimmie Johnson has ever done that.
Additionally, team co-owner Brad Daugherty was particularly outspoken in defense of Wallace about NASCAR “doing better” amid the race-related issues involving the current Richard Petty Motorsports driver this summer.
Here is what Daugherty had to say about his hopes in terms of what comes next for Wallace, according to The Charlotte Observer.
"“I’m just being selfish. I’d like to see him have the greatest opportunity in the world to win races and, obviously, one of the largest race teams, one of the four corners of our sport is Hendrick.”"
As noted on the previous slide, multiple drivers have been linked to Hendrick Motorsports for next year, so there is no guarantee that Wallace will land that ride. If Wallace isn’t the driver tabbed to replace Johnson, could Daugherty give him a chance with his own team? Wallace certainly has the sponsors in place to justify the move.
With Bubba Wallace not returning to Richard Petty Motorsports for the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season, where will he end up? Will he accept Chip Ganassi Racing’s offer, move to the coveted seat at Hendrick Motorsports or make a surprise move to JTG Daugherty Racing?
