Austin Cindric 2021 landing spots: Team Penske (Xfinity Series)

It may prove to be in the best interest of Team Penske and in the best interest of Austin Cindric himself to stick around for what would be a fourth season and a third full season with Team Penske’s NASCAR Xfinity Series program in 2021.

As stated, it took Cindric 53 starts to finally notch a win, and it took him 25 more starts after going on his first two-race win streak to get his first oval win in a sport which has a schedule that is dominated by oval tracks at every level.

Let’s also not forget the fact that (a) his third win during his three-race win streak came after he was promoted from second place to first via original race winner Kyle Busch being disqualified, and (b) the other two wins during that streak came at only one track.

His two wins since then both came at road courses, Road America and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

While a three-race winning streak is certainly a statement, as is the fact that he clinched the regular season championship with a full race remaining on the schedule, Cindric probably has a bit more to prove before he is promoted to NASCAR’s highest level. A Championship 4 berth would be a good start, even if he doesn’t manage to win this year’s title.

His father, Tim, is the president of Team Penske, and whether you like it or not, that does count for something. So more than likely, his career is slated to end up in the Cup Series with Roger Penske’s organization eventually. But 2021 might just be too soon.
