Possible 2021 Stewart-Haas Racing drivers: Clint Bowyer

Stewart-Haas Racing haven’t moved from one year to the next with the same driver lineup since between the 2015 and 2016 seasons, and if that trend is to continue for a fifth straight year this year, Clint Bowyer is going to be the man who ends up being cut, given the fact that Kevin Harvick, Cole Custer and Aric Almirola are already under contract for next year.

But it is very possible that we could see this trend come to an end this year. Many thought that Bowyer would be replaced by the team after last season, but he ended up signing an extension in October of 2019. Don’t rule out a similar occurrence this year.

While Bowyer hasn’t won a race since June of 2018 and has only two victories since joining the team ahead of the 2017 season, competition director Greg Zipadelli recently indicated that the most likely scenario would be the team moving forward with the same four drivers next year as they had this year.

When he made this claim, he referenced the fact that one of the deals that still needed to be completed was close to being completed. Indeed, it was completed shortly thereafter, as the deal to which he was referring was Almirola’s extension.

Will an extension for Bowyer follow? If he makes the long speculated move to the FOX broadcast booth, to whom would Stewart-Haas Racing turn?
