Chase Elliott has announced that he will be taking a break from social media as the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season winds down.

Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Elliott has announced that he will be taking a break from social media as the 2020 season winds down. He announced his departure in an Instagram post which he published on Friday afternoon.

Elliott currently sits in fifth place in the championship standings, 10 points below the Championship 4 cut line, with two races remaining in the round of 8 at Texas Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway following this past Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway.

The 24-year-old Dawsonville, Georgia native is one of three drivers to qualify for each of the last three rounds of 8, with the other two being Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr.

Harvick and Truex have each qualified for the last three Championship 4s as well, while Elliott, whose career-high finish in the standings is his fifth place effort back in 2017, is still seeking his first berth in the winner-take-all season finale.

Elliott, who doesn’t post a ton to social media to begin with, stated that this move was more so about the time he spends on social media as opposed to what he publishes. This move comes as he finds himself “passing way too much time on here in this little world we are all so easily entertained by”, something which many of us can relate to.

Here is his post addressing his decision.

Elliott has also been streaming Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare on Twitch fairly often as of late and interacting with fans through that platform.
