The NASCAR drivers competing in the 2021 Chili Bowl
By Asher Fair
Several NASCAR drivers are among the more than 300 competitors set to run the Chili Bowl Nationals next week. Here is a list of them.
The 35th Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals are scheduled to run from Monday, January 11 to Saturday, January 16 at Expo Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and among the more than 300 drivers set to compete in the event are more than a handful of NASCAR drivers.
This should come as no surprise, given the fact that the winners of the last four Chili Bowl Nationals are drivers who are slated to compete full-time in the 2021 Cup Series season.
Here is an alphabetical list of all the active NASCAR drivers who are set to compete in this multi-day event next week.
Justin Allgaier
Justin Allgaier, the Chili Bowl regular who competes full-time for JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series, is set to drive the #1A for Team Ripper as he seeks his first Chili Bowl victory.
Christopher Bell
Before his narrow defeat to Kyle Larson last year, Christopher Bell was the three-time reigning winner of the Chili Bowl. Only Sammy (five) and Kevin (four) Swindell have more wins in the event than Bell does. He is set to drive the #84X for CB Industries. He is slated to compete full-time for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Cup Series following his rookie season with Leavine Family Racing in 2021.
Chase Briscoe
Chase Briscoe has become a Chili Bowl regular, and he is set to return in 2021 driving the #5 for Chase Briscoe Racing. He does not have Cup Series experience, but he is set to compete as a rookie for Stewart-Haas Racing in the 2021 season after two seasons of full-time competition for the team in the Xfinity Series.
Chase Elliott
Chase Elliott, the reigning Cup Series champion, is set to make his Chili Bowl debut this year driving the #9E for Paul May – Diaedge Racing. He competes full-time for Hendrick Motorsports in the Cup Series.
Kyle Larson
After several years of trying and coming oh-so-close, he finally got it done in 2020. Kyle Larson is the reigning Chili Bowl champion and is set to return to the event in 2021 behind the wheel of the #01 for Kyle Larson Open-Wheel. After being fired by Chip Ganassi Racing in what was his seventh season with the team in 2020, he is set to compete full-time for Hendrick Motorsports in the Cup Series this season.
Brett Moffitt
Brett Moffitt is also set to make his Chili Bowl debut in 2021. He is set to drive the #45M for Bundy Built Motorsports. In NASCAR, he is set to compete full-time in both the Xfinity Series and the Truck Series for Our Motorsports and Niece Motorsports, respectively, running for points in the latter.
Ryan Newman
After making his Chili Bowl debut in 2020, Ryan Newman is set to return in 2021, driving the #00C for Clauson-Marshall Racing. He competes full-time for Roush Fenway Racing in the Cup Series.
