NASCAR Cup Series: Martinsville restarting lineup
By Asher Fair
Take a look at the order in which the drivers are set to restart the NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway following Saturday’s postponement.
Just like Friday night’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway, the Cook Out 250, Saturday night’s Cup Series race at the track, the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500, got underway after a slight rain delay.
And just like Friday night’s race, Saturday night’s race ended up being red-flagged due to more rain, and it ended up being postponed until Sunday afternoon.
Just 91 of the 250 laps of the Xfinity Series race had been completed around the four-turn, 0.526-mile (0.847-kilometer) oval in Ridgeway, Virginia when the red flag flew, and just 42 of the 500 laps of the Cup Series race had been completed when the red flag flew.
The former is scheduled to resume today at 12:00 p.m. ET, and the latter is scheduled to resume today at 4:00 p.m. ET.

The weather forecast looks much better this afternoon than it did for Friday evening and Saturday evening.
An incident involving Rick Ware Racing teammates Cody Ware and James Davison brought out the Cup Series race’s first caution flag period, and the rains came just moments later, leading to the red flag. That sequence of events led to a discussion about Darrell Waltrip’s famous “vortex theory” regarding the cars going in circles around the track to effectively keep the rain away.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin, who started the race on the front row alongside polesitter Joey Logano of Team Penske, took the lead on lap four and is still the leader ahead of Logano in second place following lap 42.
