The starting lineup for the first of two NASCAR Cup Series races at Kansas Speedway during the 2021 season has been determined.

Following a chaotic 10th race of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season at Talladega Superspeedway, the starting lineup for this Sunday afternoon’s race, the Buschy McBusch Race 400 at Kansas Speedway, is set.

Thanks to NASCAR’s starting lineup formula, it is Talladega Superspeedway race winner Brad Keselowski of Team Penske who is set to start this weekend’s race from the pole position.

The starting lineup is determined using the following factors:

  • 50% based on finish in previous race
    • 25% (50% of the 50%) based on driver finish
    • 25% (50% of the 50%) based on car owner finish
  • 35% based on rank in owner standings
  • 15% based on rank of fastest lap in previous race
  • More from NASCAR Cup Series

Keselowski took the pole position for this 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Kansas City, Kansas by recording the fourth fastest lap en route to his victory at Talladega Superspeedway, coupled with the fact that his #2 team sits in sixth place in the owner standings.

Even with the other variables factored in, the other four top five finishers at Talladega Superspeedway are actually all set to line up in the same positions this upcoming weekend where they left off this past weekend as well.

Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron is set to start alongside Keselowski on the front row in second place behind the wheel of his #24 Chevrolet.

Set to share the second row are Front Row Motorsports’ Michael McDowell in third place behind the wheel of his #34 Ford and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick in fourth behind the wheel of his #4 Ford.

Wood Brothers Racing’s Matt DiBenedetto is set to start in fifth place behind the wheel of his #21 Ford alongside Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon, the first driver “out of place” from his finishing position at Talladega Superspeedway, in sixth. He finished this past Sunday’s race in eighth behind the wheel of his #3 Chevrolet.
